‘Star Trek’ Boss: Picard Leads “Radically Altered” Life in CBS All Access Series

The Picard series will be the first onscreen Trek story set in the aftermath of that event, which would have altered the balance of power in the galaxy. The destruction of Romulus would also have extra resonance for Picard, who has a long and complicated relationship with the Romulans, the alien race that split from Vulcan society thousands of years ago and founded a separate civilization. The Romulans went on to control a portion of the galaxy, and the empire was in opposition to the Federation for all of Picard’s career. – Aaron Couch & Lesley Goldberg, The Hollywood Reporter » http://bit.ly/2C9znlb

Star Trek: Discovery Pilot Lands On Most Pirated List Within 24 Hours

Less than 24 hours after its debut, the pilot holds the #15 spot among Pirate Bay’s most-pirated episodes. The second episode, which debuted on the proprietary CBS All Access platform, is #30 on Pirate Bay’s most downloaded list. And while some Trekkies are making it clear they aren’t going to pay, others have bitten the bullet and are making the commitment, as #CBS reported a record number of new signups to the streaming service. In fact, it broke a new record for subscriber sign-ups in a single day, but as the service is offering a one-week free trial, there’s no guarantee all of those sign-ups will remain. – Rachel Carrington, moviepilot.com http://ift.tt/2fPGAg9

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ debut led to record sign-ups for CBS’s streaming service

It’s unclear for now how the “Star Trek” bump translated to actual subscriber numbers, as the network didn’t release any updated figures. However, CBS in August had forecast that it would have over 4 million subscribers by year-end for its over-the-top services – CBS All Access and Showtime combined. And it said it was ahead of schedule on meeting its 2020 forecast of 8 million subscribers. – Sarah Perez, TechCrunch http://ift.tt/2jVj0CU
