Hulu acquires The Video Genome Project to improve recommendations

The [Video Genome Project] is not a household name, but its technology is able automatically aggregate the metadata around video content, in order to better classify it into very specific subgenres, then use that data to make connections to other titles that may not seem obvious. This goes beyond metadata like the cast or director – information the studios tend to provide. Instead, it’s about classifying films or TV shows in very specific niches that are more specific than “Action” or “Drama,” or any of the other high-level categories used today. – Sarah Perez, TechCrunch http://tcrn.ch/2gcI8mU
